Robbie Gillespie from Castlemilk has joined us as the 30th apprentice we have employed since launching our apprenticeship scheme 50 years ago.
New apprentice Robbie is 17 and decided he wanted to work in joinery having enjoyed studying design manufacture at school. When the opportunity arose with Scotwood, he jumped at it: “I will be getting four years training with the Company and when that’s complete, I’ll be qualified to SVQ Level 3. It’s a great opportunity for to do more with the skills I learnt at school – although the only thing I got to make from scratch was a spice rack. I gave it to my Mum and she loved it!” said Robbie.
Many of our team began their careers with the firm as apprentices which is part of the reason we enjoy a staff turnover of less than 2%.
Scotwood Joint Managing Director, Jim Scott commented: It’s so rewarding to put a youngster like Robbie through the right industry training – there simply aren’t enough companies doing it. Robbie is keen, with real enthusiasm and potential and it will be a pleasure to see him developing top quality skills.”
