Our joint MD, Doug Kerr, is celebrating 30 years with Scotwood Interiors. We took a minute to find out what makes him tick.
How did you come to join Scotwood?
Via a circuitous route. After studying marketing at Strathclyde Uni, I went into the hotel industry and worked in sales for Holiday Inn in Glasgow, Plymouth and Birmingham. An opportunity arose at Scotwood for a new Director with sales experience and Allan Scott , the original founder asked if I’d be interested in applying. The rest, as they say, is history.
What are your highlights?
I still get huge satisfaction from seeing a space transformed. The transition from “before” and “after” is one of the best parts of our jobs and knowing we are providing people with a pleasant, modern working environment.
I also get excited every time we win a new order, no matter the size because I’m always confident we will deliver a great job for the client.
Our 50th Anniversary was a special highlight for me because, as the whole team and clients celebrated at the Trades Hall in Glasgow, I knew that my first Grandchild was on the way.
What next?
One of my Other Half’s (Joint MD, Jim Scott) projects won the FIS UK Gold Award for best fit-out this year so I’ve got to match that!
